Go backcountry skiing this summer in Argentina with Backcountry Skiing Canada on a 7-Day / 6-night ski tour through the nether reaches of La Hoya, Huemules Mountain Reserve, Cerro Piltriquitron, Cerro Perito Moreno, Cerro Lopez, and Cerro Catedral in Argentina. We’ve teamed up with Patagonia Ski Tours to offer up a special Ruta 40 Ski week—Extreme Edition.
The trip runs from Aug 5- Aug 11 and is for expert backcountry skiers only. This tour is a unique blend of epic terrain, fewer crowds, and a chance to truly connect with the environment around you.

TRIP ITINERARY
Day 1
Arrive in Esquel, meet your guide(s). Meet & Greet and trip overview, followed by our Welcome Dinner in town.

Day 2
Ski day at the nearby La Hoya ski resort for lift-accessed backcountry skiing, followed by aprés ski festivities and dinner in town.

Day 3
Early morning 4×4 transfer to the remote Huemules Mountain Reserve for a day of ski touring in the Cerro La Torta area, followed by aprés ski festivities in their unique dome shelter base. We will then enjoy a scenic drive through the beautiful Los Alerces National Park for an early evening arrival in the small artisan town of El Bolson. After settling into our comfortable cabañas in the forest, we will have dinner in town.

Day 4
Early morning 4×4 transfer to Cerro Piltriquitron for a day of backcountry ski touring in its high alpine bowls, followed by aprés ski festivities at Refugio Piltriquitron, a mountain hut located at timberline. After descending back to our cabañas, near the base of the mountain, we will head into town for dinner.
- Night in El Bolson
Day 5
Snowcat-assisted ski touring at Cerro Perito Moreno ski area, followed by aprés ski festivities at the famous El Bolson Brewery. We will then continue north up Ruta 40 to San Carlos de Bariloche. After settling into our lakefront lodging on the shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake, we will enjoy dinner in town.

Day 6
Early morning 4×4 transfer to Cerro Lopez, for a day of backcountry ski touring high above Bariloche, followed by an on-mountain picnic at Refugio Lopez, a mountain hut located at timberline. After returning to our lakefront lodging, we will head into town for our Farewell Dinner and fiesta. Option for snowmobile-assisted ski touring at Mallin Alto.

Day 7
Ski day at Cerro Catedral ski resort for lift-accessed backcountry skiing, then transfer to Bariloche Airport for flight back to Buenos Aires. Option for snowmobile-assisted ski touring at Mallin Alto.
