Chris Davenport, Ted and Christy Mahon Complete Historic Colorado Centennial
Ski mountaineers Chris Davenport, Ted and Christy Mahon ski the last of the 100 tallest Colorado peaks this week!
Ski mountaineering legend and Aspen native Chris Davenport, alongside ski mountaineering power couple Ted and Christy Mahon, further cemented themselves into ski lore this week by completing their lofty goal of summiting and skiing Colorado’s 100 highest peaks, checking Jagged Peak in southern Colorado’s Weminuche Wilderness off yesterday.
Jagged Peak, the final mountain on the Centennial Skiers’ lengthy list, eluded the trio last year on a journey documented in POWDER’s digital feature, “Inhale, Exhale.” Set in the remote Weminuche Wilderness of southern Colorado, the peak is only accessible by train and requires a few days of approach and camp-building before summiting. After weather failed to cooperate last year, it looks as if Dav and the Mahons had enough of a weather window to check off Jagged and step into the history books.
Add to that an induction into the U.S. Ski Hall of Fame this April, and Davenport’s 2015 is shaping up to be his best year yet.
