BACKCOUNTRY SKIING SURVEY
The Backcountry Skiing Canada “How Prepared Are You Today” Survey is a quick and easy, 11-question survey which is intended to educate people on the basics of backcountry preparedness, just before they enter the backcountry.
During the 2011/2012 season, it ran at Whitewater Ski Resort ad Red Mountain Resort. The simple, Canadian Avalanche Association-approved survey is intended to let people know what they should have in terms of gear and training before they venture out. This season we will be working on developing a self-serve kiosk so that they are ready for the 2014/2015 season so keep your eyes out for them next year at Whitewater Ski Resort, Red Mountain Resort and also Revelstoke Mountain Resort. And yes, we will have the same great prizes!
Prizes!
To sweeten the pot for participants, we will be awarding prizes supplied by Backcountry Access, Canadian Avalanche Center and us here at Backcountry Skiing Canada. You could win an avalanche shovel, a backcountry pack, a digital transceiver, a tent and more---just for filling out a survey. All data collected from the surveys will be shared with program partners and will help build the knowledge base concerning avalanche preparedness. The Backcountry Skiing team would like to sincerely thank our partners for their support.
We’d also like to say thanks in advance to people filling out the surveys. The program runs from December 01, 2011 until March 31, 2012. If possible, we hope to run the program in subsequent years and gather even more juicy (and statistically significant) data.
