Therm-a-Rest Slacker Hammock House - VIDEO
Heading to the mountains for a backpacking adventure without a tent is getting more and more common these days. The comfort, light weight and easy set up of hammock camping is making this sleeping option a reality so Therm-a-Rest decided to make a one-stop solution. The new Therm-a-Rest Slacker Hammock House combines a hammock (of course), fly with 4 stakes and tensioners, integrated bug shelter and hanging kit all in a single convenient stuff sack.
Give the following video a watch as it provides an overview of the Therm-a-Rest Slacker Hammock House:
The Therm-a-Rest Slacker Hammock is of course the centre piece of the system which all the other products build upon. A soft 100% ripstop polyester fabric is used rather than traditional nylon because of its superior comfort next to skin. An integrated stuff pocket provides a quick place to stash a book, headlamp or snack as well as the hammock itself when it’s ready for storage. The Slacker Hammock is available in 8 vibrant colour choices, in both single and double sizes and is made in the USA. The single weighs 570g / 1lb 4oz and the double is 648g / 1lb 7oz.
The Slacker Hammock Rain Fly is an essential piece of gear included with the Slacker Hammock House. It’s taped construction is completely waterproof and protects you from down pours mid-snooze. Six stake out points provide lots of ventilation and easy access to the hammock while keeping you dry. Total weight is only 485g / 15.5oz.
The Slacker Suspender Hanging Kit makes hanging the Therm-a-Rest Slacker Hammock House a snap. The 1” webbing is long enough to wrap around trees as big as 173cm / 68” around and their auto-locking sliders make adjustments quick and easy. Total weight of the Suspender Hanging Kit is 256g / 9oz.
Specs:
Weight: 1644g / 3lb 10oz
Dimensions: 163×315cm / 64×124”

A few other add-on to the Therm-a-Rest Slacker Hammock House include the Therm-a-Rest Slacker Hammock Pad, which is a custom shaped sleeping pad for increased warmth and comfort and the Therm-a-Rest Slacker Snuggler which provide added insulation under the hammock on those colder nights.
I spent my first night hammock camping in the Therm-a-Rest Slacker Hammock House at Camp Thermarest on Orcas Island this summer. With the additional Slacker Hammock Pad I had a solid nights sleep and would definitely consider this sleep system instead of traditional tent camping in the future.
