Chic Chac Resort Hostel
Chances are good that you've heard of the Chic Chocs—a mountain range in the middle of the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec. But have you heard of the Chic Chac? The Chic Chac is a play on the word "shack." And yes, it's in the Gaspé within the Chic Choc range...but a little further north than the famous Mont Albert (and the high-end lodge). This is a very special, and remote, part of the world.
To be exact, the Chic Chac is in Murdochville, a former resource extraction town that has had to reinvent itself. With loads of snowfall, lots of mountains and affordable real estate, the "resort hostel" is still growing. Though COVID may ruin the party in the short-term, the plan is to offer a welcome centre, restaurant for up to 200 guests, concert venue, boutique, equipment rental, and training space. It looks like a really fun place that is about to get funner.
