Columbia's new Outdry Extreme waterproof/breathable fabric technology
Backcountry Skiing Canada got the low down on Columbia's new Outdry Extreme technology on a press trip last winter to Banff/Lake Louise where we tested it in the elements. Columbia is using this new fabric technology in many of their shoes, gloves, ski jackets and pants. Take for example Columbia’s OutDry Ex Diamond Down Insulated Jacket for those cold ski days. It combines Outdry Extreme along with down insulation to keep you warm and dry. It retails for $699.99CAD and is available now.
The OutDry Rogue Interchange Jacket uses the same Outdry Extreme outer fabric but combines a zip in insulation jacket for warmth. These two piece combine to make one jacket that can take on winter and on their own work like a rain shell and mid layer. You get all this versatility for just $379.99 CAD.
Outdry Extreme is a waterproof/breathable technology that doesn’t require a DWR to be constantly reapplied ensure it works. It’s the first ever waterproof/breathable fabric constructed with the waterproof layer on the outside and a soft, wicking fabric on the inside. Watch the following video for a look at a few of Columbia’s Outdry Extreme products and learn more about how they work.
Also, don’t forget about Columbia's new Omni Heat 3D Insulation which we go into detail over in this blog post.
