Winter is here!
Another season in the White has begun...
Seems with the recent storms passing through Western Canada that the preseason might be over. Hopefully the early season missions carrying the skis on the back will now just be painful memories.
Even though the preseason turns are hard to earn, and the snowpack is shallow with treasures lurking everywhere, somehow those first few turns always seem pretty special.
Our first outing of the year November 6th on Hwy 93 North rewarded us with good stability, good snow, and blue sky. When the terrain got to be too much for skins, our summer legs were quickly reminded what it feels like to posthole up snow slopes with skis strapped to the pack.
Sometimes no turns at all... November 14, 2011 Whiteout and frigid wind! Days like this remind us why we like summer.
Ya there are stumps, logs, and rocks around... But it sure feels like winter.

Hope everyone has enjoyed their first turns of the season as much as we have.
