Backpacking in Ridge Scrambling Heaven
We spent the Canada Day long weekend north of Gold Bridge BC with our tent, dog and backpacking gear. After a confusing mess of logging roads, one wrong route, and some fun splashing my truck through the muddy FSRs, we arrived late at an incredible camping spot in the alpine. It was still light at 10PM thanks to the long days this time of year and we made dinner under the stars after arriving.
This area is a total scrambling heaven. It is located just above Tyax lodge, outside the tiny village of Gold Bridge BC, population 43. There are endless summits and scree ridges to explore. We spent all day Sunday way up in the mountains with a killer view to the south of Dickson Peak and tagged eight little summits before returning to the tent for our second night out.
The route for this area is in Matt Gunn's Scrambles book - Harris Ridge. You'll need a 4x4 truck to get here, otherwise add a few more hours of walking up the final road.
What an amazing weekend. I could not be happier.
