Boot ski anyone? Locomotive Range, north of Whistler
This is a great place to go that's a little bit more off the beaten path than the hikes around Whistler. You'll still see people here, but there's a whole lot of space explore all by yourself.
The Locomotive range is at the top of the Hurley FSR, which starts at the end of the Pemberton valley. After the turn off to Tenquille Lake (Tenquille FSR) the next flagged area on the left at the top of the pass is for Locomotive. The hike in to the campsite is quick and fairly easy, and once you're there, you'll find a playground of mountains, ridges and lakes to explore. It is well worth staying the weekend - the camping is excellent (and views from the tent are unreal - see the first pic below).
The Locomotive summit is a scramble up, and we were able to boot ski down almost the ENTIRE mountain. This is definitely one of my favorite places in the coast mountains.
As you can see above the whole mountain is a big bowl of snow so the descent is pretty fun.
