Long Sleeve and 3/4 Pants

The Ortovox Merino Thermovent is an excellent example of using body mapping in the base layer. The Thermovent Long Sleeve upper layer has tighter, more insulating sections in the upper chest, but has lighter more breathable layers along most of the arms and midriff. These allows for parts of your core to keep a little warmer, while other sections of your core allow for moisture to be more easily wicked away from your skin. The 3/4 Pants use the same body mapping strategy to allow for insulation and breathability in different places.

Ortovox Merino Thermovent base layer is made from Ortovox’s breathable mesh structure that keeps the weight low but allows for an ideal amount of ventilation and moisture control. What is brilliant about this mesh design is they are repeating the structure of merino wool (which naturally has air pockets that trap warmth) by allowing the mesh structure to trap additional warm air pockets and allow for additional moisture control.

The Merino Thermovent long sleeve shirt and 3/4 pants are designed for backcountry activities in the high alpine and for longer and colder mountain days. The mesh knit design really extends the already excellent insulation and moisture control of merino wool.

Some additional features of the pants is that they are only 3/4 length, so they don’t double up the material where you already are wearing calf length ski socks and have a special knit structure in the knee area that provides additional protection and ensures warm joints, while there is an opaque knit used in sensitive areas.
