The Paka Mountain Crew is made with outdoor adventures in mind. The Mountain Crew is made with a combination of baby alpaca wool, merino wool and recycled nylon with a unique stitch technique to resist snaps, pulls and wear.
The sweater is designed to keep its shape even after being packed away. The alpaca wool is naturally thermoregulating, moisture-wicking and odor-resistant. We are going to have a more in-depth review of how the Mountain Crew performs this winter in the backcountry, but wanted to make sure you checked out Paka Apparel as a must have for your Holiday Gift Guide list.
All Paka clothing is made from start to finish in Peru with the alpaca fibre sourced from the outskirts of Puno, then dyed in the mountains of Arequipa, and hand-signed by the female artisan who wove it in Cusco. Alpaca fibre is used because it is super soft next to your skin, not unlike cashmere and does not have a prickly feel like some other natural fibres. It is hypoallergenic and free of lanolin, fire resistant and water resistant with a low absorption rate so it is ideal for high-energy activities since it naturally wicks water away from the skin. It also dries quickly and is naturally breathable, warm, soft and unusually comfortable.
