Ice Creek Lodge
The Backcountry Skiing Canada Crew is currently ski touring at Ice Creek Lodge for the week and contrary to what low lying valley dwellers would think, there is still plenty of powder up here in the alpine.
The recent pineapple express has hit the kootenays hard with rain and melt up to 6000', luckily Ice Creek Lodge is at 6150' and although there is melt at the cabin the big terrain above the cabin saw temps below zero yesterday and the skiing was pretty good if you knew where to look. Luckily we are being show around by Joel (our guide) and starting Monday it will be the owner Russell himself who will show us all the secret zones that Ice Creek has to offer up.
With only one day under our belt we have seen only a very small percentage of the massive terrain that surrounds the lodge. We are looking forward to the next five days and will report back in with some updates and photos.
We woke up this morning to temps around -6 and 15 cm of fresh Pow, welcome back winter!
Check out our tour from day one.
