A new type of helmet?
The future of snowsport helmets?Whilst doing my usual gear nerd search this week, I came across this on social media. Anti Ordinary have made, what they call a "Beanie Helmet". According to their website, this head wear is "32.4% safer than traditional helmets".
With patented technologies, such as a dynamic frame, which shifts to fit all head shapes and sizes perfectly, and a dual stage liner designed to protect from smaller bumps, and big hits, It certainly seems as if this is a well thought out piece of head gear.
The interchangeable merino wool outer layer means that you never have to be wearing the same colour if that's your thing, which is kinda cool. But the biggest thing for me, ski touring wise, is that it seems lighter, and easier to carry, being flexible. This means, in theory, it should be able to be folded into a pack as opposed to hanging on the outside. It may also appeal to those who decide not to wear a helmet at all for touring when the terrain is mellow, as Anti Ordinary say it is comfortable and light like a beanie, but affords the protection of a helmet.
An interesting new product on the market, and one worth considering, especially if you like the idea of changing the colour of your headgear, whilst still staying safe.
