Sneak peek at next year's gear: DPS Alchemist Ski - VIDEO
A Backountry Skiing Canada team contingent made it down to OR (Outdoor Retailer) in Salt Lake a few weeks ago to check out the new goodies for 2017/18. As always, we stopped by the DPS booth to check in with new PR dude, Alex Hunt. The word for DPS next season is Alchemist. For those of you without Google, the term refers to one who practices: " the transmutation of "base metals" (e.g., lead) into "noble" ones (particularly gold)." In other words, the Alchemist line is something to get excited about. For a look at the full line-up, click here. Watch Alex spell it out below. Pretty well done for a new guy:
The idea behind the Alchemist line is "vibration-tuned aerospace grade carbon ski construction melded with absolutely the finest supporting materials." If that sounds a little like their Pure3 line, it is. Only they've tweaked the materials and construction further so the Alchemist models are damper and smoother in mixed and firmer conditions. This sounds like a dream come true and addresses the fact that earlier models (especially the bigger boys) didn't ski nearly as well on hard snow as soft.
They've also expanded on their Tour1 program this coming season with a Tour1 Lotus 124 (which we are currently skiing on--stay tuned for a review).
Here below are a couple beauty shots of the Alchemist Cassiar A85 (svelte!) to drool over.
