Sneak peek at next year’s gear: Pieps Micro Transceiver
There’s been a huge step forward in transceiver technology as we recently witnessed at the winter Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City last week. Peips unveiled their new Micro Transceiver which weighs a feather light 150 grams with dimensions of 10.6 x 7.4 x 2.0cm. It’s currently the smallest and lightest 3 antenna transceiver on the market but not to worry it’s not short on features.
It’s a fully featured transceiver with many features that the DSP sport and DSP Pro transceivers offer. The Micro has a 50m range, flagging capabilities, auto antenna switch and full group check.

Some of the cooler features are a proximity sensor which will automatically transition to the Mirco to search mode. Simply pull the Pieps Micro out of your pocket or its chest harness and it switches over to search mode by itself. The Pieps Micro also has a vibration alert, so at initial detection of a signal it vibrates and lets you focus on the visual surface search during your signal search. It also has blue tooth compatibility which provides the following functionality via your smart phone:
- Software updates
- Device-Check
- Device-Registration
- Settings
The Pieps Micro operates on a single AA battery and will operate in transmit mode for 250 hours. Good things do come in small packages!
