PrimaLoft Bio is the world’s first biodegradable synthetic insulation

It's about time that we start to see some real innovation in the apparel and gear industry toward more sustainable products. Primaloft has just introduced their new biodegradable synthetic insulation called 'Primaloft Bio'.
  Not only is this insulation 80.3% biodegradation in 394 days under ASTM D5511 conditions but it's made from 100 percent post  consumer recycled materials and at the end of its life biodegrades in a landfill environment leaving behind only organic components, namely water, methane, carbon dioxide, and biomass.


The textile industry is reported to be the second dirtiest industry on the planet, second only to oil. And, most synthetic insulations are made from petroleum products which ultimately find their way to the landfill, to the tune of about ​​​​​​​10 million tons each year according to the EPA.
