New 2013 Pieps Avalanche Transceivers - VIDEO
Pieps has been around a long time and if you are a backcountry skier you have no doubt heard of this company. They design and manufacture avalanche transceivers and have had huge success with the Pieps DSP transceiver, check out our "Gear of The Year" review of this model over here.
New for next season, Pieps has broken the DSP transceiver out into two versions the Pieps DSP Sport and the Pieps DSP Pro.
Pieps DSP Sport
This transceiver has three antennas covering a spherical search area with an upper range of up to 50 meters. With a price point of just $275 this is a super affordable transceiver for those looking to get into ski touring for the first time but still ensure that they have the reliability and quality that Pieps transceivers are known for.
Pieps DSP Pro
The Pieps DSP Pro has a faster processor and a larger range, up to 60 meters. The interface has a few upgrades over the Pieps DSP Sport as well as the ability to mark up to four victims. The Pieps DSP Pro will retail for $374 in fall 2013.
Pieps DSP Vector
The Pieps DSP Vector remains unchanged for this coming season and due to its integrated GPS functionality it has a higher price point of $599.
