NEW Fritschi Diamir Tech Bindings: The Zenith 12
With January comes the Outdoor Retailer Show and SIA show and a slew of new product announcements for 2013/2014 season. The biggest announcement out of the OR show so far is the Fritschi Diamir Zenith 12 Tech Binding.Yup, Fritschi is getting into the tech binding market.
The reported weight is 499 grams per binding or 1000 grams per set and it will have dynamic toe and heal travel to aid in release and holding power, similar to that of current alpine bindings. There is currently no ISO DIN ceritfication for tech bindings but Black Diamond (the US distributer) says that they meet all safety release tests for existing alpine touring norms.
This is huge news from Fritschi as they have relied on their rigid frame AT bindings for many years now and with so many other competitors now in the market a Tech Binding seemed like the next evolution for the company, glad to see it coming to fruition.
The Backcountry Skiing Canada crew will be at the SIA show at the end of the month so watch this site for more news on this and other big product announcements with pics and video interviews.
