        New Gear Review! Westcomb Shift LT Hoody

        In today's society everyone seems to want more. Bigger car, bigger house (two houses perhaps), 60" TV, 175 channels, three sets of skis, two dogs… It all gets to be a bit much.

        I believe that quality rules over quantity and that less is more. No where else does this mantra rule supreme than with backcountry gear, be it skiing, hiking, climbing or whatever. Get rid of the clutter and take things down to the bare essentials; you'll save on weight and space and therefore be able to move faster and further with less energy.

        Efficiency is the name of the game after all. This is essentially the blue print for the Westcomb Shift LT hoody.

        Great review - thanks for the insight. Two questions:

        1) How big is the hood? Can it compare to the Arcteryx hoods? I have a fairly big head and with helmets hoods tend to get tight.

        2) What's the sizing like? I'm 184cm and 82kg... rather broad shoulders. Usually I go with a Large (on Arcteryx for example - but there is more than enough room. Medium is although too tight, especially if I have to add a few layers underneath).

        Hey Rbaumann, glad the review helped you out. To answer your questions, the hood on the Westcomb Shift LT is fairly generous and should accommodate your 'fairly big head'.

        I find Westcombs sizing a bit on the large side, I am 170lb and 6'1" and the Large was too large for me. I would be a medium in this jacket but most other brands I am a large.
