Sierra Designs Lightening 2UL Tent - REVIEW
The Sierra Designs Lightning 2 UL Tent is a lightweight hybrid double/ single wall two person tent (as the name suggests). It uses a mesh tent body with waterproof fly which surrounds the tent and forms two gear garages, one on either side. The tent’s ceiling is a single wall construction where no mesh is required. This innovative fabric mapping helps reduce fabric and thus overall weight. It’s technically the lightest two person tent that Sierra Designs produces. There’s a lighter tent called the Flashlight 2UL but it’s only lighter if you use two hiking poles instead of the included DAC tent poles. Given it’s minimal weight the Lightening 2UL offers up an impressive 2.78 square metres of living space with an additional 0.38 square metres of storage space in each of the two gear closets located under the fly wings.
