Suunto Ambit 2 creates backlash from users
The original Suunto Ambit GPS watch was released just over a year ago and it went on to win many accolades and awards including the Backcountry Skiing Canada Gear of the Year award for 2012/2013. Suunto however has just announced a new line of Suunto Abmit 2 GPS watches which have improved features and advances in battery life and a some what smaller size.
All good stuff right?
One would think but current original Suunto Amibt 1 owners are expressing dismay over the new product. They feel that Suunto may no longer support the original Amibt GPS watch but instead focus on the new Suunto Ambit 2. To get to the bottom of this we spoke with the Canadian representative of Suunto at Amersport Canada (the parent company).

We were told that to quell these concerns Suunto has just announced that the new features slated for the Abmit 2 watch will now be included in the up coming June update for those who own the original Suunto Ambit.
The update will include:
a) Further enriched Suunto Apps (to Ambit2 level with rich math functions, new variables, sound and backlight. NOTE: For original AMBIT only one App remains available per sport mode.)
b) Storm Alarm App
c) Sunrise/Sunset App
d) Countdown timer
e) Autopause
f) Maximum speed of an exercise on watch
g) Battery charge level (%)
