Too Lazy to wax? No problem. Melt skis
Too lazy to wax? No problem.
A new ski company breaking into the market this year is Melt skis. A company that claims your Melt skis never need to be waxed...ever. This is achieved with a “Nivylen Nano Carbon” coating what ever that means but it sounds sciencey. I am always a little skeptical of these new companies claiming things like NEVER or BEST but at the very least this ski company stands out from the mass of indie brands by actually trying something different. For that fact alone I applaud them. Just how well this will preform in a range of temperatures and snow conditions is another story. Another concern that comes to mind after having lived in the Rockies for many years is how are base gauges and core shots going to be repaired. Your run of the mill, tried and true ptex just won't cut it on these bases. Maybe a Nivelen Nanon Carbon candle is supplied with each purchase? With all that said it is possible that these do preform as advertised and wax might go the way of the rear entry boot. Only time or perhaps a ski review will tell.
Somethings are better waxed.
