The Curve Of Time
The Curve Of Time is a ski film following two of my favourite skiers and how they reduced their impact on our planet while still being pro skiers.I grew up watching Chris on T.V when I was a teenager living in Ontario dreaming about what I would do and where I would end up for my "year off" out west after college. Once I did finally get out west I found out that you can walk uphill with skis on, imagine that! After a few years of maxing out on a 500m day's skiers like Greg Hill began to be sources of inspiration. Like Chris, Greg needs no introduction. His human propelled backcountry and ski mountaineering achievements speak for themselves. I have bit more of a man crush on Greg because of his sweet ride. I have always said that I will be getting an electric car once the technology is here and Greg is proving just that, it's here.
In more recent years Rubens and Hill have been doing more together with their focus on being environmentally responsible to our planet. While being responsible is the catalyst, going on really cool and exciting ski objectives while being responsible to our environment is the main goal. Showing the world and inspiring others that we can all make simple changes in the way we access the mountains and have a big impact on our personal carbon footprint. Of course, transportation is only one facet of the carbon issue but it sure is a good place to start. The film touches on other ways Chris and Greg have been able to reduce their footprint regarding diet and travel but doesn't all come across as preachy.
Give the film a watch, first and foremost it's a really good flick about ski touring and one I feel we can all easily relate to. We all love the peace and quiet of the wild places unmolested by human advancement. However, our urban lives have an impact on the health of the remote wilderness despite being thousands of kilometres away at times.
