Dave Treadway Passes 2019/04/15
The more my skills progress the further into the mountains I go, the more complex the terrain I travel and my perception of risk changes from fear of the unknown to calculated risk. The ski mountaineering community is quite small and well connected. It's a simple fact that our friends will go into the mountains and sometimes they won't come back. Well, the truth is is that calculated risk is still risk. In our sport, accidents will happen and if you stick around long enough you will lose friends. It's just a numbers thing. The news of Daves passing hit me hard. A man of great integrity, kind and true to his values. He was a great father, the one we all wish we were. My heart breaks for his family as mine eats breakfast in the other room. Dad will come around the corner for a second cup of coffee but that's not a reality for the Treadways. If you wish to help this wonderful little family there is a go fund me campaign set up and it can be found here. https://ca.gofundme.com/support-for-the-treadway-family
A new article on the accident can be found here.
Remember Dave and take a little comfort in the fact that he lived how he wanted and while his life certainly ended too soon, he died doing what he loved wholeheartedly. Remember to go get small.
