New Okanagan Guide Book
Guidebooks have always provided a great deal of inspiration for me. They sit on a shelf, next to the bed or on the toilet tank ready to be picked up at any moment. They are easily referenced, bookmarked and transportable. Pages upon pages of images and brief descriptions can kick-start your next adventure. Those who know me know that I can't help but collect adventure maps or guidebooks. Old or new it doesn't matter. So when a new guidebook is announced within driving distance of home I get pretty excited. The Okanagan is home to one of British Columbia's largest bouldering centres. The Boulderfields have a massive amount of developed climbs and a recent designation with BC Rec Sites saw the development of a camping area at the trailhead last season. It really has become a destination for climbers. Despite having over 1800 developed routes in the Okanagan there has been no official guidebook for this huge area, until now. Author and Okanagan crusher Andy White has been working on the new guidebook for five years and expect the book to arrive in August. A Kickstarter has been created for those who wish to support the project early. The campaign can be found here. See you out on the blocs.
