HOW TO SKI THE SCOTTISH STEEPS: TRAILER
As the days get shorter, the evenings colder and we approach the almanac’s first predicted frost date, it is safe to say we are officially in the pre-winter season! This is obviously when we all start thinking about how we want to prepare for our few months in the snow.
We are also seeing a sudden increase in ski film trailers, course and trip offers, sneak peeks into webinars and pre-season work out routines, etc.
So, if you’re Andy Townsend (IFMGA mountain guide) and Iain Innes (Scottish steep skier), the anticipatory energy for the snow to start falling is just about all you need to drop your own trailer out to the world. “How to Ski the Scottish Steeps” will be an educational video series showcasing the skills needed to conquer a descent down one of Scotland’s legendary steep couloirs or chutes. With support from Black Diamond, Atomic, FATMAP and others, the series will cover topics like information gathering, snow safety, how to transitions from crampons to skis in a gully, how to set up an abseil over a cornice, some ski techniques to use on the descent, and more.
The full series will be available on the Fall-Line Skiing UK website at the end of October, but check out the teaser now!
