USUFRUCT: THE FILM
“Usufruct” is a word defined as “the right to enjoy and live off land that is not ours, barring the destruction or waste of its substance.”
Presented by POW, Usufruct is a film that aims to highlight some of the consequences that are results of today’s climate crisis. Using off-road biking to send the message, the film features three athletes as they travel through a large beetle kill zone and wildfire burn area near Durango, Colorado. Not only does the short film show a glimpse into the present state of our public lands but also ominously hints at what the future of recreation might look like if we don’t make any collective changes to adjust the track we’re on.
