Video: Inspiration - 100 Year Old Skier
When I was a kid jumping out of bed at 5:30am on Saturdays in the dead of winter in order to hit the road by 6am for a day of skiing seemed easy. It was common too to get home well past dinner time, grab a quick bite, maybe watch an hour or two of TV and then off to bed to repeat it all again on Sunday. In my twenties it was more fun to stay out late at night rather than get up early for a day of skiing. As I got past the party stage it became easy once again to get up early, although back to back days get a little tougher. Aside from the psychological aspects of waking up early there are physical issues as we age that can impact our desire to head to the mountains. It pays to stay active not just during the winter but in the off season as well. I hope to keep skiing as long as I can, my father skied well into his seventies until he was physically unable to any more. I would like match that or beat it, or even ski until I am 100 like George Jedenoff from Utah. Last winter was his 57th in the Wasatch. Pretty remarkable.
He can definitely still rip:
