A painted-black skiing segment - VIDEO
Nicolas Vuignier’s gets artistic on our asses with his latest ski short PBK1. This is an artistic look at skiing the terrain park covered in black ochre. Vuignier, Sampo Vallotton, and Florian Bruchez turn the sky and snow into their canvas.
Vuignier says he was inspired by the trend of experimenting with coloured natural pigments in ski films, like in Marcel Hirscher’s “Skiing in Colour” video or the Falquet brothers’ Trip(C)olor short. This film is also reminiscent of Sweetgrass’ Afterglow segment, except with out the light suit and of course all that colour.
As Nicolas Vuignier puts is "In April 2015, I gathered a few riders and experienced photographers to perform this conceptual clip, in which skiers release black ochres while taking off, leaving ephemeral trails behind them as they fly. This is a project I’ve had in the back of my head for quite some time. Having seen other filmmakers experimenting with natural pigments, I knew there was room for another visually interesting experiment."
