Chili Thom
If you are into backcountry—anything (and I assume you are because you’re reading this) than you will undoubtedly enjoy the artistic works of Chili Thom. His playfully creative brush strokes create vivid clouds, sunsets, water and landscapes that are appealing to anyone with a love for nature. Thom says that, “your experience in nature depends on how you choose to position yourself within it.” Born and raised in British Columbia provided him with the alluring scenery any artist would be envious of. After moving to Whistler in 1995 he was inspired by the naturally beautiful landscapes, especially from the top of the Peak Chair, and would be influenced as a person to create this amazing art. His job as a wilderness guide would only continue to inspire and influence his artwork over the years.
Chili Thom has been voted Whistlers Favorite Artist for every year since 2002! His artwork “transports the viewer to remote natural landscapes and acts not only as a form of escapism, but also as a tool top deepen their appreciation for the natural world in which we are all inextricably connected.” His favorite thing to paint are snow-covered trees because he can “dream about pow turns while [he] paints them.” They too are my favorite because I can dream about pow turns while I look at them.
