Not your mothers ski tour. Boats, heli and ski mountaineering.
Being that this is a backcountry website I am sure you have heard and read about Greg Hill and his adventures before. This time Hill and company head to the 4th highest peak in the Rockies but not in your typical fashion. The plan was to boat across the Kinbasket lake and to the end for the Wood arm, get a heli bump , ski for a few days then head back to the boat. Not part of the plan was the burning up most of their fuel just to get to the back of the arm. 70L of fuel was used to carry the five and their gear to the end of the arm. A figure I think most would have underestimated. Whoops. Greg tells the story best of his blog featured on the Arcteryx website and can be found here and is loaded with photos. Hill maintains a personal blog and it is always worth dropping in to see what he has been up to.
