WILDFIRES: GET INFORMED AND PREPARE ACCORDINGLY
Thanks to increased temperatures and lack of rainfall across the province of BC, recent weather has kicked into gear what is starting to look like a turbo-charged fire season.
In the past, scientists have predicted that some regions across the continent would see the size of annual burn areas increase by as much as 500% in as little as twenty years. The reality is that wildfires are on track to becoming part of the norm in the West, and as most of us frequently recreate in the outdoors, it is up to us to adjust our preparedness and trip planning strategies so as not to be caught completely off guard by these changes in our environment.
