COMP-From CB to BC Solo backcountry 2013
I moved to Nelson from Crested Butte, Colorado and fell in love with the stability and quality of the snow in the backcountry. Being a father to a 1 year old baby girl has not only limited my time to ski, it has given me not much notice of up coming ski days. Not to mention that I most certainly must report home for the well being of myself and my family. I have had too many friends die in the backcountry to know that. These people, such as TBL who the Sickbird award is named and Jack Hannan who pioneered some big lines in the Coastal Range, left the ever lasting impression to stay safe for my loved ones sake. This is the biggest reason for my regret of skiing by myself the entire season so far.
I have had 14 great days, all of which I have skied by myself. My knowledge for the variable, and most often dangerous snowpack of Colorado, has been a perfect asset here in the Kootenays. This is just a breif summary of the skiing I have done and it has all been amazing!!!
