Gimli Ridge
The snow has finally melted enough that you can access the Gimli Ridge trail in the Valhallas. You’ll want a high clearance vehicle, good hiking shoes and if you’re feeling extra adventurous pack a tent! The trip takes about 2 hours up, being 3.2km of peaceful forest, breath taking views and friendly mountain goats at the top. There are a few spots to refill your water along the way.I recommend doing a few smaller hikes before taking on Gimli, simply because it can get steep and being rated difficult you can bet it’s no walk in the park. Once you reach the base you’ll find a food cache, rock walls to break the wind and a toilet with the best view in the world. If you can still find some snowy slopes, give boot skiing a try!
Follow the trail up to the left and you’ll eventually get to a lookout over Mulvey Basin. If the base view wasn’t enough, this next one will surely knock your socks off. It gets quite windy so along with your snacks and water, bring a windbreaker of sorts. Other than that, just enjoy yourself!
