Old Growth Forest
Taking a walk through an old growth forest is a wonderful way to unwind and get back in touch with nature. There's this sense of wisdom and mystery these ancient trees hold that never fails to amaze.
If you're heading into Kokanee Glacier park, there is a trail off to the left just before the first lake, Gibson. There are well placed signs to guide you. This old growth forest hike is rated as easy, being only 2.5km round trip, though it can get quite slippery at times due to the nearby creek.
During the fall, I'd recommend wearing warm clothing and maybe even a head band or toque. We even wore thin gloves for added warmth. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife and intersting flora growing on the forest floor and remember to take out anything you take in.
