Snowshoeing
Well, it’s that time of year again! The snow’s starting to settle on the mountain peaks and boy are the nights getting cold. Just because hiking season is over though, doesn’t mean the adventures have to stop!
Last year, a few friends and I found an amazing waterfall while exploring along Koch Creek, just off the Little Slocan FSR. There are tons of waterfalls to discover in the Kootenays, so as long as you have a pair of snowshoes, why not go out and about during the Winter too!
The falls we found were completely frozen by mid January, which made for some pretty neat pictures. There was even an ice bridge leading right up to the base of the waterfall. You just have to remember to be extra cautious around frozen water and watch where you step when the snows edge is along rivers and creeks. Be smart, and have fun!
