Stormy Weather
Having access to a boat makes for fantastic adventures, but when you hear thunder rolling in with dark clouds and wind, it’s best to remember your place in respect to mother nature.
Last weekend my friends and I found ourselves in a bit of a conundrum after boating across the lake to explore. We flung ourselves from waterfalls, snacked on chips and had an all round good time. After an hour or so we headed back to our boat only to find a nasty storm and choppy waters. We had enough time to take one group back to camp, but were forced to leave the remaining 11 to wait out the storm. Eventually our group was reunited thanks to a friendly hero with a much larger boat, which was just incredible luck. It’s hard to understand how dangerous a lake can get when the sun’s shining with open blue skies. So remember to check the weather before heading out because it takes almost no time at all for these storms to fully form and turn that nice smooth lake into a raging sea.
