The Keyhole
If you’re looking to spice up your hiking itinerary this Summer, try The Keyhole while in Kokanee Glacier park. It’s rated as difficult, and boy is it ever, but the view at the top makes it all worth the scrapes and bruises. It takes about 6 hours, being 12.8 km in total.
To get there, follow the trail from Gibson lake to Kokanee lake. About halfway between the two take a trail that branches to the right. Continue up until you are lead to a large and very intimidating mountain of fallen boulders. Take extreme caution when scrambling up and only do so if you are fitted with good hiking shoes and strong knees for the trip back down.
Once you reach the top, enjoy some of the freshest glacier water around! And if you’re anything like us, have fun boot skiing and tossing snowballs around.
