Avalanche Conditions Report 2 - VIDEO
Over the last week, we received some new snow followed up by gail force winds which raged up to 90km/hr in the alpine. This affected the snow quite a bit by scouring open slopes and depositing this snow in sheltered areas which formed soft wind slabs making skiing a little more tricky.
Whitewater Ski Resort in Nelson is now reporting a settled snowpack of 85cm at the top of their Summit Chair and 50cm around the Day Lodge. Needless to say, we need more snow but hopefully, that will materialize this coming week. Fingers crossed.
Always check Avalanche Canada for current conditions and remember that now is the optimal time to break out that avi gear and start practising with it.
