Avalanche Conditions Report: BIG Results
Last week we talked about sleeping dragons, this week they are awake.
In this week's Avalanche Conditions Report video you’ll see first hand how destructive yesterday's large size 3 avalanche on Goat Slide was, it was explosive controlled by helicopter.
Whitewater Ski Patroller Wren McElroy has to say: This slide released on the persistent deep slab which formed on the Nov 12th melt freeze crust which has been lurking under the storm snow. This area has concerned us for a while and similar aspects and elevations should be treated with caution. We've had 1 meter of storm snow this past week with moderate to strong southerly winds, we are in the middle of an active avalanche cycle and travel in the backcountry is not recommended, read the avalanche bulletins and let this storm slab settle out a bit before tackling it. Skiing inbounds is fantastic right now after all.
