Currently on the west coast of Canada, we are are in a period of high pressure which means sunny skies and cool temps. These are the main ingredients that create surface hoar which will be a layer to keep an eye on as it gets buried by future snowfall.
Currently, the main avalanche problem we are keeping our eyes on are a wind slab in isolated treeline and alpine features and why Avalanche Canada is calling the hazard moderate in the alpine.
With sunny skies, endless visibility and low avalanche hazard this is a good time to think about some of those backcountry objectives you may have had your eye on.
