The Latest Avalanche Conditions Report - Video
With another 20cm of snow overnight this brings the recent storm totals to 34cm which has created a touchy storm slab that sits on a large surface hoar layer that is being called the Jan 24 Surface Hoar Layer. 10cm below this surface hoar is a melt-freeze crust, these two layers are very similar to our December 8 crust and December 13 surface hoar layer which developed earlier this season. Given the recent snow load these new layers will be reactive and something to wath out for. Be very cautious about this problem.
Another 5-10cm is forecast along with another storm coming Sunday! Be safe out there.
