The Latest Avalanche Conditions Report - VIDEO
March is coming in strong with another big storm cycle upon us. It's forecasted to last into the weekend with 50cm forecasted by Saturday. Here in the Kootenays we've already got upwards of 60cm over the last 5 days which is making for some incredible ski touring but also high avalanche danger.
Temps are forecast to rise and be accompanied by moderate to strong Southwest winds which will start to load those avi start zones. The Feb 24th surface hoar/sun crust layer is still reactive and this new snow will place over a meter of new snow atop it. Time to ski the resort or stick to low angle, safer terrain if you do venture out.
