North Shore SAR Rescue Snowboarder
After unintentionally ducking out of bounds at Mt. Seymor Ski Area, 26 year old Gursh Singh, a Seattle resident, found himself in trouble. Despite falling into water and spending nearly 12 hours in the backcountry without much supplies, Singh managed to get a call out to a relative to notify them he was lost. North Shore Rescue sprang into action at 7:30pm and made contact around 3:30am. Due to the nature of the terrain they decided to hold up for the night and have Singh and his five rescuers long lined out by helicopter in the morning. This is new equipment and the first time it was used for a rescue mission. Some advice given by Singh includes carrying a whistle and hugging a tree when lost.
