COMP - Joffre Shoulder Coiloir, Duffey
This is my first post here…the contest enticed me to sign up. So here is my first submission of the season ( lots more to come). I just moved to pemberton for the month of January after graduating from univesrity (finally…). This marks the start of a 4 month trip with 3 good friends. At the end of the month, we are packing up an RV and cruising around BC and alaska to splitboard all the goods! So I will try to get as much footage up as I can through the season.
January started off really well with almost 2m of new snow in the first week. Now we have a nice ridge of high pressure sitting atop us, so it's time to go get after some alpine! The first mission of the year was just done by my friend Johanna and I (Tyler) to Joffre shoulder couloir. I have always called it nuclear pow explosion couloir, because every time I have done it in the past there is a slight wind coming over the ridge that explodes your turns in the air (I know, lame name but its a good run and I don't know if it has an official name). It's a nice 45-50 degree slope that requires a good bootpack to get up usually.
