COMP-Pemberton Backcountry- tripple play
Sweet day in Pembi Backcountry...
The day was beautiful, the snow was firm but stable. The goal was to ski three sweet n facing couilors. The tripple play, as i call it. Good friends and good times, working as a team to make decisions, ski and encourage each other, is what I love about trips into the backcountry. We headed out early, and as we hit the alpine I was shocked at the features that were showing. I hadn't been there since last spring and with the second snowiest snowpack in history everything was covered. We had to deal with a couple of berschgrunds at the bottom of the chutes where they meet the glacier. As well as crevases on the glacier that I hadn't noticed before. Looking up from the bottom, they appeared small but on top they seemed much bigger. The sluff on the second run never made it to the bottom, it was swallowed up by the frowny face crack! It added another fun element to the runs. Thanks Jer, Alex and Evan. Good times and fun lines. Coast range classics.
Jer dropping into the first line of the day. The B crack....
Alex at the bottom of the run ready to skin to run #2.
Evan and Jer getting up to get down.
The second line of the day, Jer skiing above some nasty Bershgrunds. C Crack.
Evan on the last run of the day. Cornice big...very big!
The view of the last run. RC
