Peak Chair open on Whistler Mountain

Peak chair opened yesterday to the regular fanfare. Dan Treadway of course skied it before everyone else. Good news is that the Musical Bumps area is now readily accessible from the resort.

Conditions for Whistler backcountry: wind affected snow and breakable crust in the alpine, treeline and below has great powder on northern aspects or wherever hasn't been baked by the sun for hours . Watch out for creek crossings, still a lot of snow needed to fill in hte hazards.

Many alpine bowls are repeatedly releasing storm snow, coverage is still poor on the more ambitious lines.

High pressure system seems to be hanging out for the next 10-12 days so take the opportunity to get in shape before the next storm rolls in!
