Pterodactyl Spine, Mount Currie first descent - MOVIE
Apparently the first descent of Pterodactyl Spine, Mount Currie was skied last week and the guys were able to get some good footie of it - read the full TR below:
Mount Currie looms over Pemberton and constantly draws my attention away from whatever else I'm supposed to be doing when I'm in view of the north face. For the last couple of years I have been looking a lot at this line that runs above the Pencil chute and above a fairly large cliff band. Having watched it fill in and melt out through a telescope for a couple of years, skied the Pencil beside it and flown directly over it once I was confident I could ski the line. The crux of a super exposed 60 degree rock speckled few meters was(I rationalised in my head) the only gnarly bit to worry about. This section I downclimbed on skis as pulling out the rope and building an anchor in sugar didnt really appeal! Turned out the little slab I ripped out(45sec into the video) got me fairly griped aswell! Forgetting all the skidmarks though the skiing was sweet, mostley decent snow, fun turns and a unique perspective on the north face and the valley below. Good times all round.
