Whitewater 2015/2016
Here we go!
Had an excellent day at Whitewater today with Martin Ouellette. With a report of 60cm in the past week we were determined to get up high over 2000M to find some good turnable snow.
Low threshold levels allowed a direct Ymir bowl skintrack through Goat slide. Travel was smooth and easy on a supportive crust under surface hoar and 10 cm of low density snow. we were after a nice direct fall line with blown in wind transport snow and found it in Kuba Chute, directly below Ymir peak. 125 cm's in the chute skied like a perfect mid winter line.
To exit we followed a nice glide line down our skin track contour back to Goat Slide. With only 60 cm's over talus, Goat Slide skied surprisingly well. The supportive crust down 10cm allowed smooth and easy turns. Sluice exit was skied conservatively, but easily passable, followed by an enjoyable glide out the Silver King access road.
Early Effort, but a great day out at Whiteater.
