Therm-a-Rest launches new Tranquility Tents - VIDEO
Therm-a-Rest has been designing and manufacturing sleeping mats for over 40 years now and is undoubtedly the leader in this field. Just think about how most people refer to their sleeping mat, they probably call it a Therm-a-Rest regardless of the brand. In addition to sleeping mats Therm-a-Rest also has camp chairs, hammock system, and sleeping bags in their line up (more to come on all of these in future posts), the only key item that has been missing up to now has been tents. Well, the wait is finally over.
Off the coast of Seattle on the San Juan Islands I spent three days at Camp Therm-a-Rest which was a complete outdoor camp experience designed to provide an ideal testing ground for Therm-a-Rests new Tranquility Tents, as well as some of their other products.

Have a watch of the following video overview of the new Therm-a-Rest Tranquility Tents:
The Tranquility tents come in a 4 person and 6 person version and both are designed for car or base camping since they place an emphasis on convenience and comfort rather than light weight and compact size. They offer easy set up and quick fly removal so you can star gaze at night but with the huge two door design there are plenty of great views to take in even with the fly on.
The large A Frame design allows for plenty of livable space inside and the Tranquility 6 Tent even has a stand height of 6’2” so you can actually walk around inside. The front door on this version also converts over to an awning to provide more protection from the rain and sun (poles sold separately). The Tranquility 6 Tent retails for $599.95US.
The Tranquility 4 Tent (pictured below) has a smaller footprint, over all size and also packs down smaller. It weighs in at 5.19kg / 11lb 7oz and comes in it’s own backpack as does the Tranquility 6 Tent. This 4 person version will cost you $479.95US.
Outside both the Tranquility 4 and 6 tents there are several pockets to store wet gear and items you need frequently. On the inside you will find even more storage pockets as well as a pass-through port which allows you to connect an external solar panel to charge your electronic devices inside the tent which can be stored in the included media centre.
The Therm-a-Rest Arrowspace Shelter retails for $299.95 and can be used as a stand-alone shelter and can also connect to the front vestibule of the Tranquility 6 Tent to provide a respite from inclement weather.
